General Questions
What is GetTranslated.AI?
GetTranslated.AI is an AI-powered translation management platform designed specifically for mobile applications. We help developers and organizations translate their iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter apps into multiple languages quickly and efficiently. Our platform combines advanced AI translation technology with intuitive management tools to streamline the entire localization workflow.
How does it work?
The process is simple: use our CLI tool to upload your app's string resource files, select your target languages, and our AI will automatically translate your content. You can review, edit, and refine translations using our built-in editor, then export the translated files back to your app. The platform supports both static and dynamic translations, enabling fast, compile-time translations as well as runtime translations for content that may be delivered by backends or untranslated libraries.
What platforms do you support?
We support iOS (Swift and Objective-C), Android (Java and Kotlin), React Native, and Flutter (Dart) applications. Our platform handles both static string resource files and dynamic translations, ensuring compatibility with various app architectures and frameworks.
What file formats do you support?
We support standard mobile app resource file formats including:
- iOS:
.stringsfiles (traditional format) and.stringsdictfiles (plurals format) - Android:
strings.xmlfiles - React Native: JSON files

Do I need to be a developer to use GetTranslated.AI?
While our platform is designed with developers in mind, you don't need to be a technical expert to use it. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly. However, you will need access to your app's string resource files to upload them, and basic knowledge of how mobile apps handle localization can be helpful.

Technical Questions
How accurate are the AI translations?
Our AI translations are highly accurate, leveraging state-of-the-art language models trained on vast multilingual datasets. However, we strongly recommend that all translations be reviewed by humans, especially for context-specific content, brand terminology, and culturally sensitive material. Professional and Enterprise plans include advanced features like translation memory and AI Suggest to improve consistency and accuracy over time.
What AI models do you use for translation?
We use advanced large language models (LLMs) optimized for translation tasks. All plans include intelligent auto-routing that picks the best model for each batch of strings. Professional and Enterprise plans unlock premium AI models like Claude Haiku and Claude Sonnet, giving you control over translation quality for different content types.
What is translation memory?
Translation memory is a feature available on all plans (including the free Personal plan) that stores previously translated phrases and sentences. When you translate similar or identical content, the system suggests existing translations, ensuring consistency across your application. Professional plans include advanced translation memory with better matching algorithms and context awareness. Learn more about Translation Memory →
What are protected words and phrases?
Protected words and phrases (available on Starter plans and above) allow you to specify terms that should never be translated, such as brand names, product names, technical terms, or company-specific terminology. This ensures consistency and prevents incorrect translations of important terms throughout your application.
Can I set a specific translation for a term?
Yes. The glossary (available on Professional and Enterprise plans) lets you define the exact translation a term should use in each language — for example, always translating “Cart” as “Panier” in French. A term can be both protected and have glossary translations: kept verbatim by default, but using your chosen wording in the languages you specify. GetTranslated applies your glossary during translation and flags any translation that doesn’t follow it.
Do you have an API?
Yes, we provide comprehensive API access for Starter plans and above. The API allows you to integrate translation workflows directly into your CI/CD pipeline, automate translation updates, and sync translations with your development workflow.
What is AI Tune Tone™?
AI Tune Tone™ is an advanced feature available on Professional and Enterprise plans that allows you to adjust the tone and style of translations. You can make translations more formal, casual, friendly, professional, or match your brand voice. This helps ensure your application's translations align with your brand identity and target audience expectations.
Can I rephrase or shorten translations?
Yes! Professional and Enterprise plans include "Rephrase and Shorten" features that allow you to adjust translation length and phrasing. This is particularly useful when dealing with UI constraints, character limits, or when you need to adapt translations to fit specific design requirements.
Is my data secure?
Yes, we implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest, regular security audits, and secure authentication. Importantly, no user-identifiable information is sent to third-party AI services. Your source strings and translations are processed securely within our infrastructure. Enterprise plans include additional security features like two-factor authentication.
What is version history?
Version history (available on Professional and Enterprise plans) tracks all changes made to your translations over time. You can view previous versions, see who made changes and when, and revert to earlier versions if needed. This is essential for maintaining translation quality and debugging issues.
How does correctness validation work?
Our platform automatically validates the correctness of your base strings, helping you identify incorrect content and reduce the likelihood of errors and incorrect translations. This feature is available on all plans and helps reduce translation costs by ensuring that your base strings are correct and consistent.
AI Editor (MCP)
What is the GetTranslated MCP server?
It's a Model Context Protocol server that connects your GetTranslated project to AI editors like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. Once connected, you can upload source strings, run AI translations, check status, and download translated files directly from your editor's chat — no separate tool or dashboard required. See the MCP Quick Start Guide to get set up.
Which editors and clients are supported?
Any MCP client that supports the Streamable HTTP transport, including Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.
You connect by pointing the client at https://www.gettranslated.ai/mcp/translate/
with your Server API Key as a bearer token.
Is it secure? What can the MCP access?
The MCP authenticates with your project's Server API Key and is scoped to that single project — it can't touch other projects, your billing, or your team settings. Treat the key like a password and keep it out of version control. If a key is ever exposed, rotate it from your project settings; the previous key keeps working during a short grace period so nothing breaks mid-rotation.
Does using the MCP cost extra or count against my plan?
No extra cost for the MCP itself — it's just another way to drive the same translation engine. Translations run through your existing plan and count toward your usual usage limits, exactly like the CLI or web app. Plan-gated features (such as grammar check, protected words, and higher language tiers) are available through the MCP only on plans that include them.
How is the MCP different from the CLI?
Both use the same Server API Key and act on the same project. The CLI is best for scripts and CI/CD pipelines, where you want deterministic, automatable commands. The MCP is for interactive work inside your AI editor — describe what you want ("translate the strings I just added to Spanish") and the assistant calls the right tools for you. Many teams use both.
Getting Started
How do I create my first project?
You'll create your first project during sign up. Give your project a name, select your source language (the language your app is currently in), and choose your target languages. Then use our CLI tool to sync, translate, grammar check, and download your string resource files. You cn learn more about this process in our CLI Quick Start Guide.
How do I upload my string files?
Our CLI tool will automatically detect and upload your string resource files to our server and translate them. If you already have translations, you can choose to sync those translations with your project.
How do I export translated files?
Once translations are complete, you can download them from the project dashboard. Our CLI tool will automatically download the translated files to your project. You can learn more about this process in our CLI Quick Start Guide.
Can I edit translations after they're generated?
Absolutely! All translations can be edited at any time through our intuitive translation editor. You can make manual corrections, use AI features like Rephrase and Shorten, or leverage AI Suggest for alternative translations. All changes are saved automatically and tracked in version history (available on Professional and Enterprise plans).
What are language overrides?
Language overrides allow you to override the application language for specific users. This is useful for when you want to test translations with specific users or when you want to test translations with a specific language.
